Light of the World - based on John 8:12, 31-32, 36
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Into this world long ago came the Light, Jesus Christ. His life shines brightly for all to see. It chases the darkness of sin away.
When in Christ we believe, we are transferred from the kingdom of darkness, where sin rules, to the Kingdom of God where there is always light.
This light is the truth that sets us free from the bondage of sin. This truth is the great sacrifice of our Lord and Savior. He hung on the cross of Calvary and took upon Himself all the darkness in this world. That darkness was all the sins of the world - past, present, and future. He suffered and died so we might live forever with Him. His light was snuffed out for three days.
He rose from the dead and lives today. His light shines forever, for Jesus defeated sin and death. He gave all for you and me.
Come and abide in Him. In Him, alone, we have been given abundant life. His truth has set us free.
