Ransomed we have been by the blood of the Son of God. Told this are we in Mark 10:45 and Matthew 20:28. Jesus paid the price that God demanded our sins. The payment was the blood of a perfect sacrifice. Not the sacrifice of an animal without blemish as demanded in the Old Testament for temporary forgiveness. But the sacrifice of a human who had lived perfectly, never having sinned at all. Only Jesus could fit this role. For He was sent from Heaven above to earth by God to provide the only way to salvation through His blood. (John 3:16)
So came He to earth knowing that He would die a terrible, horrible death so you and I could have life eternal when in Him we put our faith. (John 6:38-39)
1Timothy 2:4-6 says: “who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.” From these verses, we know that God has always desired for all men to come to be saved - to come to know the truth of how to be saved. It is only through Jesus Christ, the mediator between God and man, who gave Himself as the perfect ransom for men.
God would only accept ransom (the payment) for our sins from the only true, just, perfect sacrifice that Jesus provided. (Mark 10:45) Only through His shed blood was the wrath of God satisfied. Not any amount of gold or silver could have done this. Only by the blood of the precious lamb of God was our ransom secured. (1Peter 1:18-19)
Our ransom paid for by the perfect Lamb of God has become the Lion Of Judah’s victory over sin and death for all mankind. (Revelation 5:9-10)
