Meditation on 1 Peter 5:7 “ casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.“
As a believer in Jesus as Lord and Savior, this promise from Him is for me. As I thought upon its meaning, the Spirit made it clearer to me.
Casting, in this verse, means to throw something with great force. So as I cast my anxieties on. Jesus, I am hurrying them at Him.
Anxieties are my worries and fears. They come at me from all around. Sometimes they mound upon each other and their weight wears me down.
Jesus cares for me. This I have heard so often, but what does that look like. For me, it is He answers my prayers. (Philippians 4:4-7) He gives me more than I can ever imagine. (Ephesians 3:20). He provides for me. (Matthew 6:25-34) He equips me spiritually. (Ephesians 6:10-12)) Most important He loves me. (John 3:16)
So expanding on this verse I would write it as such: When I am held down by many worries and cares, I am called by Jesus to throw them to Him with as much force as I can. He will take them from me. He does this because He cares for me. He hears my prayers. He gives me all I need and more, He provides for me daily, even in the smallest of details. He shows me how to fight my worries and not fall into them again. Most important of all He loves me.
I need not be anxious with fear and worry, for my Savior who loves me, will always take care of me.
