Allegiance to Jesus alone is what I want to be known for here on earth. To be a follower of the King who created all and rules over all is how I want to be described. Colossians 1:16 tells me, “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”
With one word spoken by God, all came into being. When the Day of the Lord comes, all will be destroyed, and He will take His followers home. (Mark 13:26-27 states: “At that time, people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory." And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
John 1:1-4 tells us that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him, all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” The glory of God showed up among us, yet His glory was not accepted. He chose to die for our salvation and for all who will believe in Him as Lord and Savior.
For God sent His Son into the world not to condemn us, but that through Him, all might receive His salvation, as stated in John 3:16-17. Let us be identified in this world as followers of Jesus. Let us pledge our allegiance to Him as our Savior. Let us show to others, as we live to please Him, His great sacrifice of love. Let our identity be shaped by His life. Let us be known as imitators of Jesus, as Ephesians 5:1-2 reminds us to be: ”Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” For as Jesus died so we might be forgiven of our sins, let us also die to ourselves and live for Him and show His love, grace, and mercy to the world.
