The Playlist of my Christian Life
One Sunday morning, as I was sitting in church with the Worship music being played, I wondered what songs had influenced my walk with Jesus. Immediately, many songs came to mind. I started a list and decided to share this list with you and ask you to consider what would be the Playlist of your Christian Life.
First on my list would be “Jesus Loves Me."
From an early age, I sang this song, as it told me that in the Bible I could find this assurance. John 3:16 is one of my favorite verses because it tells me of God’s great love for the world.
Next on my list is “The Old Rugged Cross.”
For without the great sacrifice of Jesus on that cruel, inhumane cross, I would still be a sinner. But because of His death, my sins have been paid for. I enjoy communion with God the Father because of Christ’s sacrifice on that cross.
This song brings joyful praise and worship to my soul. “How Great Thou Art” is a song I learned as a child at summer camp.
This song always brings me back to remembering how wonderful and great our God is. Remembering who God is and what He has done leads to reverence and worship of His holy name. I find myself singing ‘Holy, Holy, Holy.” For our Lord God is mighty and merciful.
My playlist would not be complete without a reminder to keep my focus on my Savior. “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” is the song that does this for me.
I am reminded to always look into His beautiful face, where I always see His great love looking back at me.
A couple of worship songs that keep my thoughts on my Savior throughout the day are “When Death Was Arrested” and “Life Defined.”
These two songs remind me that Jesus died for my sins. He paid the price, and in his dying and rising, sin and death have been destroyed. Let my life always be defined by believing in Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
For all that the Father, Son, and Spirit have done and continue to do for me, I will praise them forevermore. When I sing the "Doxology,” I am doing this.
The last song I included on this playlist is one of my favorites. It is the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.
When I hear or sing this song, I am transported to the Throne of God.
