The Vine

This morning the Lord brought to my mind the word remain/abide, which led me to John 14, where Jesus tells us that He is the vine and we are the branches. He goes on to remind us that unless we abide in Him, we can not do anything.
As I reflected on this, Jesus took me to the cross. He showed me the twisted vine with thorns sticking out as far as they could and reminded me how those thorns pierced His brow for me. He bled and died on the cross of Calvary out of great love for me.
My heart was pricked with shame for those times I fail Him, but in love, He reached down, reminding me I am not condemned. For He died and rose again, defeating sin and death for all who come to Him.
So at the cross, I start my day abiding only in Him who came to save. Hallelujah, what a beautiful Savior is our Lord Jesus Christ!
