Lesson 29: Comforted and Comforting

Questions 3 and 4

I’m greatly comforted by the words, “the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
All my sins, your sins, the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2) were laid on Christ at the cross. Those sins can never be attached to us because God put them on Jesus! Our sins were nailed to a tree and buried in a tomb; we bear them no more; now, we can sing, “It is well with my soul!”

Isaiah 53:10-12, “Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Not only does Jesus atone for your sins, but He also makes intercession for you! Oh, dear friend, be of good cheer! Jesus “is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25) In other words, you cannot be condemned for any past, present, or future sin because Jesus is ever pleading His blood for you. And the Father will not punish you because Jesus has already taken your punishment.
