Lesson 21: Forgiveness Learned at the Cross

Testimony

Diane writes, "This is my testimony of growth in Jesus through the A United Front course.
I asked my husband to commit to the Purity Bootcamp course; then, a few days into the study, he asked me if I would complete the A United Front course in tandem with his study as recommended. At first, I felt that I 'shouldn't need to' as pride and self kicked in, and in my pain and unforgiveness, I also thought 'why should I?' but I reluctantly said yes.
It took a good third of the course to deal with my pain, unforgiveness, pride and self at the foot of the cross as this superb, Spirit-led course got hold of my hand and led me time and time again to the foot of the cross and ever so gently lifted my chin and repositioned my eyes on the sufferings of Christ and His example of forgiveness, loving-kindness, humility, compassion, understanding, and empathy.
Through Father God's amazing grace and strengthening and our Lord Jesus Christ's intercession for me and us as a couple, I was able to repent of my own sin, seek healing for my pain, and walk forward in Godly sorrow to forgive my husband wholeheartedly and unite with him as a team.
We have become closer and more intimate, which has not been the case for many years, and I must say we are also much closer and more intimate with Father God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. God warns us in His word that Satan prowls around us seeking to devour us, and sometimes my husband and I unwittingly gave him a helping hand - a foothold. I have learned through this course that when we are 'united' as a couple at the cross, and we present a 'united front' in a three-chord strand with God, Satan has to 'get behind us,' he no longer has any authority in our lives or marriage; the authority is God's and His alone.
The gospel of Christ and the cross of Christ have been the two main learning curves for me, which have built a foundation beneath my feet and a closeness in and with the Trinity that I did not have previously. I confess and am aware that I am still 'running my race' and have a ways to go, but I trust that our dear Father God will continue to 'change me from one degree of glory to another' as I commit to 'developing my mind to be more like Christ's.'
I am confident to walk forward with my husband as a 'United Front' and continue to learn from Christ's example and, in turn, be helpers, examples, and encouragers to our sons, our friends, and the unsaved. May nothing we experienced be wasted, may everything we have been through and the outcome glorify God and promote His Kingdom in Jesus' precious and mighty name and because of the Cross amen. 🙏 "
