Lesson 1 Gospel Hope
Questions 2, 3, and 4
Hosea is a minor prophet; his book is in the Old Testament portion of the Bible. If we were to read the whole book of Hosea, we would quickly see the similarities between our lives and Hosea’s since his wife betrayed him through sexual immorality. It is heartbreaking to read his book, but he told his story with a purpose.
Hosea’s tumultuous marriage was symbolic of the nation of Israel and their unfaithfulness to God. Israel had run after other gods (spiritual adultery) and broken their covenant with God, which meant that they were now under a curse.
But God did not abandon them in their sin. We can see in Hosea 6:1-3 that God had a plan for dealing with the sin and brokenness, and this same plan is what gives us hope for the restoration of our marriages too.
First, we can see that Hosea 6:1 acknowledges the devastation of sin. The words torn, injured, and wounded are so appropriate. It is how I felt in the face of my husband’s betrayal. I had a broken heart, a wounded spirit, and an injured marriage.
Question 2. Can you relate to the words Hosea used—torn, injured, and wounded? Please share how you feel about your situation.

Oh, friend, receive this good word today. In your sorrow and pain, Jesus is calling to you. His arms are spread open wide, inviting you to run into them and feel His loving embrace. He sees your broken heart, your torn marriage, and He is ready to bind you up and bring you to a place of rest and healing.
Question 3. Do you desire to receive the healing that Jesus has for you? If yes, and you would like, use the space to pour out your heart to God and tell Him that you want the healing that He has for you.

It is essential to understand that this invitation from Jesus is for your spouse too. This course is about becoming A United Front with your spouse, and if at all possible, you want to come to Jesus with your spouse.
Question 4. Has your spouse indicated a desire to repent and return to the Lord with you? Please share.
