According to Ephesians 3:17-19, the love of God found at the cross of Christ is both an experiential love and a filling love. We can "know" by experiencing the love of Christ through His suffering and death, and the experiential knowledge of His love will flood our souls with all of God's fullness.
Have you meditated on the amazing love of God as shown in the death of His Son? Have you thought about how much love God has that He would send His only Son to die in your place? Have you meditated about the love of Christ Who suffered willingly and died substitutionally, because He loves us eternally? Oh, what wonder is found in contemplating the eternal love of God in Jesus Christ as exhibited at His death!
Country music artist George Strait sings a song entitled, "Love without End, Amen." It tells the story of a young boy coming home from school after having a fight and expecting punishment from his dad. Fully expecting the wrath of his father, the son waited, expecting the worst. However, the father said, "Let me tell you a secret about a father's love ...Daddies don't just love their children every now and then ...it's a love without end. Amen."
The young lad grew up and passed this secret on to his children. One day he dreamed that he died and went to heaven. He was concerned, as he waited to go in, because he realized there must be some mistake for if they knew half the things he's done they would never let him in. It was then that he heard his father's words again, "Let me tell you a secret about a father's love ...Daddies don't just love their children every now and then ...it's a love without end. Amen."

George’s song isn’t precise theologically, but it is comforting to know that those who have repented of their sin and have trusted Christ for salvation have a Father whose love is unending! It is no secret, concerning our Father's love: God doesn't just love His children every now and then; indeed, it is a "love without end, Amen." Just look at the cross, and you’ll see God’s full commitment to love you to the end and beyond!
“Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.” John 13:1 (NLT)

This passage in 1 John 4:9 tells us that the cross displays, or "makes manifest" the love of God. Indeed, it does, for one must love supremely to give up his life for another.
“32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:32-39

Dierdre writes, "It provides a foundation for the subsequent verses. It talks about the greatest gift and blessing we can receive is the cross. No one can bring a charge against God's people because our sins have been propitiated by His blood. He is now interceding for us at God's right hand. We cannot be separated by Christ's love no matter what."
