Lesson 8 – Faithfulness

Question 10

Application: Let's look at the faithfulness of Jesus at the Cross

Heb 12:1-3 – Jesus by faith – went to the Cross for us. Jesus was faithful to His calling.
"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, (2) looking unto Jesus, the author [chief leader, one that takes the lead and becomes an example, a trail blazer] and finisher [perfector, one who set before us the highest example] of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (3) For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls." (Hebrews 12:1-3 NKJV)
Jesus had faith that the Father would raise Him up on the third day:
"Therefore, my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. (10) For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. (11) You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." (Psalm 16:9-11 NKJV)

10. How have you had this experience, receiving this heart of gladness and joy? It is the Lord who gives us this heart that we hear the Gospel.

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17 NKJV)
"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (17) For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:16-17 NKJV)
