Lesson 9 – Gentleness

Question 8

Now starts the “Blame Game” – NOT ME – Adam blamed God for the woman. The woman blamed the serpent.
There were a terrible judgment and curse following our first parents’ sin. God cursed the serpent – with a promise – The Seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head, and the serpent will bruise His heel. (Genesis 3:15)
God’s judgment on the woman multiply sorrow and pain in childbirth, and your husband will rule over you.
God’s judgment on the man, the ground (the whole planet) is cursed, now he will work for his food by working the ground. And in the end, he will die and turn back into dust. And in Adam, we are now all cursed with his sin. His sin now becomes our sin.
But notice what God does next:
“Also, for Adam and his wife, the LORD God made tunics (garments, coats) of skin, and clothed them.” (Genesis 3:21 NKJV)
As the Lord kills these animals – this is a picture of the Father bringing His Son to be sacrificed for us.
This sacrifice will be the first of many sacrifices that will be offered - the innocent to pay for the guilty. It would be only a matter of time that Jesus will become that Lamb of God – to cover us with His blood and righteousness.

8. How do you see a picture of the sacrifice on the Cross in Genesis 3:21? How does the innocent being slain and the guilty being clothed by the skin of the innocent parallel what Jesus did on the Cross?
