Lesson 12 – Being Fruitful

Question 4

Illustration from the Old Testament:

Consider the promise made to the Messiah (Jesus) in the OT about being fruitful.
"Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise [crush] Him (Jesus); He (the Father) has put Him (Jesus) to grief. When You (the Father) make His (Jesus') soul an offering for sin, He (Jesus) shall see His (Jesus') seed, [Hebrews 12:1-2] He (the Father) shall prolong His (Jesus') days [resurrection], And the pleasure of the LORD (the Father) shall prosper in His (Jesus') hand. (11) He (the Father) shall see the labor of His (Jesus') soul, and be satisfied. By His (the Father's) knowledge, My righteous Servant (Jesus) shall justify many, For He (Jesus) shall bear their iniquities." (Isaiah 53:10-11 NKJV)
"A posterity [our children, a seed, their descendants, a whole generation, His spiritual seed] shall serve Him. It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation, (31) They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, That He has done this." (Psalm 22:30-31 NKJV)
Jesus' fruitfulness ought to be seen here in His church. Both in character and numbers. Pray to be used by the Lord to grow His church. Pray that you would be fruitful.

4. What are you doing in your church to help in the people's growth and reaching others with the Gospel?
