Welcome to your study!

Introduction

"The truths taught in this course will deliver you from any stronghold in your life. I know, they did mine." George
Greetings, friend! You are about to start a transformative study that can change your life for the better. This program is different from addiction and recovery studies and 12-step groups. It is focused on achieving true and long-lasting freedom.
In the first message Jesus Christ spoke to people, He said, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come” (Luke 4:18–19).
Twice in this text, Jesus references freedom: the captives would be released and the oppressed would be set free.
What do you need to be released and set free from? Harmful substances? Disordered Eating? Anger and bitterness? Lust and sexual impurity? Gambling? Unforgiveness? Depression? Something else? Maybe you’ve struggled with these things for a long time, as I did.
Throughout this course, you will learn the principles of freedom that Jesus taught. And if you apply His method, you will experience the power of freedom and be transformed.
You can also read testimonies from individuals who have completed the Setting Captives Free material, embraced the truth, and experienced freedom. “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

We'll watch a 10-minute video and have a group discussion, followed by completing four short homework studies during the week. The lessons build on each other, and the weekly discussions help in applying the principles of freedom.

"When I started this study at Setting Captives Free, my heart was the hardest it had ever been. I was ready to go back to living for myself, and I couldn't care less, but God intervened through this study. Now, there's no more weed on my Instagram timeline. I go to the cross frequently to be cleansed. I have adopted a warrior's mindset against my sin, and I make sure to keep God close by studying His Word and praying. If you have a hard heart due to substance abuse, I recommend this study to you. If you humble yourself and pray to God to change your heart, you will find freedom. In the beginning, you might feel like it won't help but trust God and surrender to Him. He will set you free through the power of the gospel." Djamila
“I was captive to bitterness and unforgiveness after my husband cheated on me. This drove me to food for comfort and alcohol to escape. After watching my husband change so dramatically while taking his Setting Captives Free course, I decided to take it too. My heart has been totally changed; I’ve forgiven my husband and been set free from captivity to food and alcohol. Our marriage was literally saved as well.” Lisa
“My struggles were alcohol, drugs, gambling, and sex addiction. After 39 years in 12-step programs with no lasting freedom, my life has dramatically changed since learning and applying the biblical principles taught at Setting Captives Free.” John
