Day 24. The Means of Grace
Question 2
Heartfelt praise fortifies us against deception and despair. It's a shield of faith, an offensive weapon against the enemy (Psalm 9:1-2, 11). As we lift our voices, strongholds get demolished.
So don't hold back your song! God commands a joyful noise, whether you have a voice like Pavarotti or can barely hum a tune. He wants to hear your unique voice praise what He's done in your life. We all join the choir of the redeemed, singing truth till the day our faith becomes sight.
This, again, shows the absolute need we all have for a good gospel church and to attend faithfully. They should enable our own praise to God as we join in with the singing and worship of our Savior.
This also models the gospel. Just as God heard His people's cries and rescued them from the enemy, Christ saves us from the ultimate enemy of sin and death through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. And now we erupt in grateful praise to our Redeemer, singing in the hope of resurrection because Jesus conquered the grave (1 Corinthians 15:54–55). Our worship anticipates the day we sing face-to-face in glory.
Sing on, dear friend! Lift your voice to the One who paid it all. Sing your praise no matter the circumstance, ushering in His victory one note at a time.
This week we have seen the necessity of private and public prayer, praising God, and gospel preaching. These are essential elements for us to grow in grace, mature, and become like Jesus, free from habitual sin.
