Lesson 12: Justified by Faith in Christ’s Work and Not our Own

Question 1

Marco Polo of Mike’s teaching: Monday 22nd March 2021
“We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.”
Galatians 2:15-16 NIV
Quote from the teaching:
“In the year 640 AD in China, there was an area of land owned by rich people. They had built luxurious homes but right next to this one section of rich people was where poor people lived in mud huts. Now in this year 640 AD, the river Yangtze flooded. The rich knew their homes were a safe haven and as the report came that the river was flooding, they all ran to the safety of their homes and they went up as high as they could, went up on their roofs to wait it out. The river was higher and stronger this year than it ever was before and it literally destroyed every one of those rich people’s homes. What they had trusted in and had built themselves was destroyed. The poor people on the other hand knew their mud huts would provide no protection and as soon as they heard about the flood, they ran to the hills and they escaped the flood and lived.”

Question 1: In your life, are you trusting in something you built, your efforts, your ministry, the life that you made? Or do you see your life, your righteousness is nothing but a mud hut that could never withstand the flood of God’s wrath, and so you have run to the hill of Calvary and put faith in what Jesus did there for you? Thank You Jesus for the Blood “I was a wretch I remember who I was I was lost I was blind I was running out of time Sin separated The breach was far too wide But from the far side of the chasm You held me in Your sight So You made a way Across the great divide Left behind Heaven's throne To build it here inside And there at the cross You paid the debt I owed Broke my chains Freed my soul For the first time I had hope...”
