Lesson 35: The Gospel and the Holy Spirit Linked Forever

Question 1

Marco Polo of Mike’s teaching: Monday 6th September 2021

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”
Galatians 5:16-18 NIV
“For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.”
1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 NIV
From the teaching today:
“I do not know if you had had a similar experience to me. People would talk about the Spirit of God and state the truth that walking by the Spirit enables us to not gratify the lusts of the flesh but always left me wondering how! We do not automatically know how to walk by the Spirit. We are not born into the Christian life knowing how to walk by the Spirit. He is invisible. How do we walk by the Spirit? The Bible makes it abundantly clear. The answer is readily available in scripture. Come to the cross. Come to the cross and wash. Come and experience forgiveness like you did the first time. Come and behold the Lamb splayed out on the altar, blood running out of Him, life draining out of Him for you so that you can live. Read the scriptures and see the cross and you will walk by the Spirit. It is the inevitable result. The cross and the Spirit are linked in scripture…The gospel and the Spirit. Twins together - forever. The gospel, the cross and the Spirit”.

Question 1: Why do you think that God has connected together the message of the cross and the power of the Spirit? What does it mean to you?
