Debts

Day 16 - Think about how Jesus paid for your debts

Long was my list of debts. Deeper into a hole I was sinking. Creditors came after me demanding full payment. Nothing I had could satisfy the emptiness within me. No earthly possession that I bought could fill the void I felt.
Thrown into spiritual prison was I. The key was tossed away. The charges against me were far too great. My sentence was death. In despair I cried out - Is there anyone who can save me? My body was weak, my soul completely broken, my heart was like lead within me.
Into my prison of darkness came a sliver of light. I heard a voice calling out to me. These words were what I heard. "Come to me, all who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28)
Looking up I saw the face of someone I knew. I saw the Savior of the world beckoning me to return to Him. I had walked away long ago from the one who could give me freedom. The Son of God who had come to earth to die so I might live.
He pulled me out of my prison when in Him I believed. He died and rose so I might be free of sin, death, and condemnation. His blood was shed for you and me. This verse will tell you how I live my life now. “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20)
Come to Jesus and believe that He can set you free. He has done what no one else could do. He died and rose to defeat sin and death as the perfect sacrifice. Only He could satisfy the wrath of God so in Him we can be saved. 1 John 5:15 says “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” I echo this verse in my call to you. Believe In Jesus and have life.
