Rediscovering the Power of the Cross

"I am so impressed with the simplicity, sincerity and profound nature of this material. Very well done! Please pass this along to others in this ministry. I am excited to see us use this as a tool to equip our people and train them in righteousness." -- Peter Ernst, Pastor/Teacher Family Bible Church, Kingman, Arizona
Loyalty programs are quite popular these days. To join, all you need to do is offer up your name and phone number. One step, and now you are a loyal member of the community and entitled to all the benefits of it.
Many churches have adapted this approach as well. Just “pray the sinner’s prayer”, raise your hand in response to a message, walk an aisle indicating your decision to follow Christ, or fill out a connection card, and you will be added to the community as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
But is this what becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ is all about?
Jesus Christ, after His death and resurrection, was given all authority in heaven and on earth. And as the Head of the Church, He has instructed us to “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19). All believers are to be engaged in making disciples, and we minister in Jesus’ name and with Jesus' authority when engaged in this work of making disciples.
But how do we make disciples? And what is a true disciple of Jesus Christ? What message do we use in making disciples, and what is the evidence that someone is a disciple of Jesus Christ?
This course is written to anyone who wants to take the instruction of Jesus Christ to heart, to “go and make disciples of all nations.” It is written for church leaders, church members, and non church goers; indeed, any and all who want to know how to become and how to make a disciple of Jesus, what message to use, and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Come and learn from God’s Word, as taught by Setting Captives Free Board Member Erick Hurt, on what true disciple making is. Let’s pray that the church, worldwide, catches the passion that Jesus had as He went to the cross, suffered and died, then rose again to make disciples!
