Day 14: Discouraged

Application

Are you discouraged? Confounded by your circumstances? Are you facing difficulties that are beyond you? Are you tempted to just give up and abandon yourself to despair? Look to Jesus and see that He died to rescue You from discouragement and despair; He has not brought you to this place to forsake you. He loves you. He has brought you into the place of need because He is going to provide for you.
Do not listen to the lies of the evil one; you are not alone. You are loved! Jesus knows your situation, and He is sympathetic. Look to Him, remember His death on the cross and His resurrection, carry this truth close to your heart and in the front of your mind so that you will have hope and not despair. Believe in Jesus and HIs goodness. Trust Him; He is worthy. As you carry the death of Jesus in your mind, you will see the life of Jesus revealed in you.
Are you working yourself to death trying to save yourself only to find yourself losing ground? Are you weary of trying to fix things, control everything and everyone? Is discouragement overtaking you? Look to Jesus and find rest for your weariness.
Jesus cried out from the cross in a loud voice, “It is finished!” Through His death on the cross, He completed His rescue mission. He lived the perfect life we could not live and died the death we deserved so that we would be reconciled to God and have eternal encouragement in Him. In Christ, we are righteous. Now we must strive to enter His rest (Hebrews 4:11).
Do not press for self-reliance, friend, but instead, strive for dependence on Christ. As you abide in Jesus, you will bear the fruits of repentance and the fruits of the Spirit you desire. As you rest in Christ’s finished work on the cross, you will find great encouragement for your heart, because you are trusting that God’s purpose will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:19-23

Cheryle writes, "That to Him I was worth the worst suffering, torment, pain, and death so that I could have the promise of eternal life with Him! If someone loves me THAT much, well, there is NO other love like that! I am encouraged!"
Jeromy writes, "Wow, I love that passage, Hebrews 10:9-23. Thank you, Lord, for providing a way of life here and now and eternally in your presence! What great hope, life, redemption and peace we have in you! Thank you for giving me that hope and a path of redemption when I had no hope and no way to escape my chains that were bound tightly around me and I was left in utter despair. Thank you, Jesus, for the price you paid unto death while I was yet a wretched sinner. Thank you, Lord, that I am now dead to myself and so blessedly and gratefully alive in you! Thank you, Jesus!"
Judy writes, "Dear God, I am overwhelmed with the thought that you loved me so much that You sent your son, Jesus, to die and rise again for my sin. And even if I was the only person You would still have saved me from my sins. I'm thankful that You are in control and am encouraged, for You see the complete picture, and will guide me in the right direction. Help me to remember this and to help me keep my eyes focused on You o Lord. Help me with my attitude, and keep me in your will. Amen"
Mike W. writes, "Because one day I will be able to meet Him and put my finger in his nail scars and the wound in his side. To prove that what I have believed was true all along. And because he has taken the want for porn away completely!"
Jen writes, "I am encouraged because I know how short I fall in trying to make things right on my own, but because of His finished work on the cross, it is already taken care of and I just need to trust in Him and stop doing it on my own. What a relief it is!"
