Lesson 15: Let No Debt Remain Outstanding

Questions 5 and 6

Resting: God created the world in 6 days and rested from all His work on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2). He then blessed it and made it holy (Genesis 2:3) and gave this command, "Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God" (Exodus 20:9-10).
All believers ultimately find their rest from their own labor at the cross where Jesus worked Himself to death for us. We find our Sabbath rest in Christ as He rested in the grave and fulfilled the command to rest on the Sabbath. We find our ultimate rest from our works in Jesus Christ, "for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience” (Hebrews 4:10-11).
So we must also rest our feeble earthly bodies from its labor so we can optimize the short time we have in this world.

Multiplying: “Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” Matthew 13:8
The gospel is all about multiplying as the seed that falls on good soil produces a crop. When Jesus died and rose again He purchased His bride, the body of Christ which all believers are part of. We are to continue in this multiplying by sharing and planting the gospel seed with all. We are like farmers who scatter the seed and with great patience and expectation wait for God to give the growth, "So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth" (1 Corinthians 3:7).
We can likewise apply the gospel to multiplying and managing our resources, “Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return. 2 Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land” (Ecclesiastes 11:1-2). As believers we are to be diligent not taking huge risks but with prayer and great planning as we manage the resources God has given to us."The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty” (Proverbs 21:5).

Question 6. Are you producing a gospel crop and diligently multiplying the funds available to you? Please share.
