Lesson 20: Your Knight in Shining Armor

Questions 2 and 3

The One who came just in time to “save the day,” rescue the ransomed, win victoriously, ride off into heaven and sit at God’s right hand! If only the world could see Jesus paying the price for their sins as He gave up His life on the cross! Gave up His spirit! Gave up His rights! Gave up all that He had! His crown from heaven was exchanged for a crown of thorns from the earth! His robe of righteousness was exchanged for stripes on His back! If only the world could see that Jesus is the One whom they’ve been looking for! Dreaming of! Fantasizing about! Longing to fulfill their every dream and free them from every harm!

“For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:2-5
“Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” Galatians 3:13
“He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.” Ephesians 5:27
Jesus is the perfect offering who has rescued His bride. Paid the price to purchase, wash and cleanse her. He clothed her beautifully in His righteousness and love. If you are a believer you are forever part of the body of Christ, holy and without fault. Forever one spirit with Him. You in Him and He in you. He was crushed and pierced so you could be whole and free, forgiven, loved and accepted forever in the family of God.

Question 3. How has this lesson drawn your attention as husband and wife away from the mere fantasies the world offers and to the reality that is found in Jesus alone? Please share.
