Greetings again, friend, and welcome back to your course. It’s a joy to study with you and I hope you are interacting with your mentor or other personal friend or counselor as you complete this course.
You know one of the reasons why I was addicted to media in my past is because it provided the “alone time” that I craved. I could hide in my own little world, temporarily escape the pressures that were in my life and live in a fantasy world. Even if I had other players in my gaming sessions, I was still alone in my room and free of my everyday demands.
In real life, I’m an airline pilot and when I would go on trips and get to my hotel room, I couldn’t wait to get online. I just wanted to get away from the world and hole up in my room and play games, watch movies, get room service and just veg out.
Question 1. What does “alone time” mean to you? How important is it to you? What things do you do in your alone time?

Hse writes, "To me, the "alone time" mean to be a place where no one can see an distract you. I would take a nap, watch movie, or play games in phone if I don't have anything important to do such as homework."
Over time, you know what I discovered? My alone time wasn’t fulfilling.
It’s not that the desire for “alone time” is wrong, I just needed to know how to do it the right way.
A way that was not selfish, that didn’t dumb me down, or put me into the “media stupor” of just watching movies, playing games or scrolling through social media for hours on end. I discovered that there is a way to get alone that is helpful and productive, as well as exciting and thrilling.
You know how I discovered this? I was reading my Bible one day and I came across the following passage. See if you can see how God showed me this discovery that I’ve been talking about:
Mark 4:33-34 NIV With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. (34) He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
Question 2. According to Mark 4:33-34, in what way did Jesus communicate?

Charlene writes, "Ahhhhh what sweet revelation I have found here in Mark 4:33-34. When we are alone with Jesus, He desires to talk to us, to explain everything to us. Oh what a wonderful, loving and giving Savior we have. I simply love this! That our dear Savior desires to take the time to explain things to us is nothing short of amazing. Hallelujah!"
