Lesson 5: The Lord's Battle Plan

Testimony and Question 7

Testimonies of Freedom

David's Testimony

David writes,
Before this course, impurity enslaved me for two decades. Through the edifying lessons of the Purity Bootcamp course and the encouraging feedback from my mentor (Dean), I have, for the first time, enjoyed a taste of victory over the wretched sin of lust for pornography and self-gratification. This sinful struggle is gradually losing its grip on me as it appears less and less attractive to me. I understand full well that I cannot afford not to be vigilant every waking moment, for I still live in this fragile, vulnerable, unredeemed flesh. To war against it has to be an ongoing lifestyle, not a one-time thing. And the flip side of it, to walk by the Spirit, has also been increasingly real and delightful to me. I began feasting in the Word, praying in the Spirit, and applying what I learned here; the next thing I know, I am witnessing how the Lord transforms me bit by bit. Of course, all of it would have never been true apart from the Cross of Jesus. Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, is what makes it possible, and I have to come to Him regularly, to be reminded how great a sinner I am and how great a Savior He is. Thank you all for this wonderful ministry! The Purity Bootcamp has been a great blessing to me. It has been a wonderful learning experience for me to equip myself to win the battle of purity. I highly recommend it to all those who seek lasting freedom in Christ.

debbie's testimony

Debbie writes,
Since taking the Purity Bootcamp course at Setting Captives Free, I'm washing at the cross every day by seeing Christ suffering in my place and cleansing me from all my sins and giving me His righteousness. Washing at the cross in this way helps me to remember that I am a new creation and that God accepts me completely because of Jesus' loving sacrifice. It helps me to have a positive view of myself, of God seeing me through what Jesus has done for me. Also, I've learned to read God's Word every day to remain in step with the Spirit. I try to see Jesus in the Scriptures that I read. Warring against the flesh means that I must receive a battle plan from God and be prepared to fight and suffer as Jesus did. Choosing to say no to sin is participating in the suffering of Christ. I've learned that the power of the cross is not only for salvation but also for living out the Christian life. I have learned to focus on the cross of Christ daily to remember that Jesus took my place, my sins, my punishment, and my guilt. When God looks at me, He sees righteousness that has been given to me by Jesus' sacrifice. I do not have to live by or respond to the world's labels (addict, etc.) because my identity is found only in Christ. God's Word is true not only for others but for me too, and as I read it every day, the Spirit will guide me. God loves me without measure and is willing to do anything to keep me in a true relationship with Him. The three main principles remain with me and will forever be necessary for my battle against sexual impurity and immorality: Washing at the Cross, Walking by the Spirit, Warring against the flesh. I recommend this course to anyone who is struggling with sexual impurity. The focus of this course is not in battling the war in your own strength but to recognize and believe that Jesus has won the war for you. I love that this course is completely focused on Jesus' love and scripture for success. With Jesus' death and resurrection as a sure foundation, victory is indeed possible.
