Questions 1 and 2
Greetings again friend, welcome back!
Review
Question 1. What are the two foundational principles of freedom that we have studied in the course?
Warring Against the Flesh
Today, we have a very practical foundational principle, which, if applied, has the power to entirely destroy the work of the enemy in your life and set you free. It’s called “Warring against the flesh.” I can’t wait to study through the Scriptures that teach this biblical principle and together we'll learn how to apply it to our lives. “Two are better than one” (Ecclesiastes 4:9), we’re in this battle together. I plan to win and hope you do too!
The reason that Warring against the flesh is the third principle is that without the first two (Washing at the cross and Walking by the Spirit) this one is destined to fail. We can war all we want against our enemies but without spiritual power, we will lose! Martin Luther wrote, “were not the right man on our side...our striving would be losing.” The first two principles help us to see that the right man, Jesus Christ, is on our side and He fought for us and won by dying on a cross and rising from the dead, and with Jesus, no soldier is left behind. Because of Jesus, our striving is going to be winning. Amen.
When I was in bondage to pornography, even though a professing Christian, it was like I had absolutely no strength to fight (see Romans 5:6). The enemy came knocking on my door through impure thoughts, calling me to gratify my lusts, and I just laid down and surrendered. I gave in and gave up so many times I felt like I had a big “L” on my forehead for Loser!
If my physical body reflected my spiritual person it would be shot through with holes, have broken arms and legs, and would be blind. Do you relate?
Question 2. What has your experience in this battle of lust and impurity been like? Please share.
