Lesson 7: The Cross Cleanses Us
Testimonies and Question 6
Testimonies of Freedom
Joe's Testimony
The only sin I will have victory over is forgiven sin. Jesus did the work and then provided the Spirit to set my mind and actions (warring against the flesh).
The Setting Captives Free Purity Bootcamp course has helped me tremendously in my battle for purity. I have not sinned with pornography during this course. I count this course as a gift from God to strengthen me in my fight against pornography. The lessons on washing at the cross, walking in the Holy Spirit's power, and battling the old sinful nature have been instrumental in building my defenses against this destructive and offensive sin.
About the time I started this class, I actually was truly saved. I had lived for years as a hypocritical Pharisee. The Lord finally redeemed me after convicting me of the grievousness of my sin. I felt then that God empowered me to battle pornography as well as other sins. Simply put, an unbeliever (or false professor) has no chance of victory over sin.
Today, as I am finishing up this wonderful course, I felt the devil came at me with a flood of temptations in my mind. It has been the most challenging day of all, but, Praise the LORD!, God has given me the grace to get through it. My battle plan has kept me on the right course. Even today's temptations are a "grace" because it reminds me that I can never let up. After all, Satan will never let up. I must wake up and get ready for battle, and, as I do, I see Jesus is more glorious, and I long to be with him even more.
This course is the best I have seen in teaching on battling the sin of pornography. This course is rooted in the power of the Gospel to change us from disobedient to obedient followers of Christ. Other programs are more psychoanalytical or nonredemptive (i.e., "I'm a sex addict"), or graphic, etc. By far, the best is Setting Captives Free!!"
