The whole story with Hosea and Gomer is designed to show you the love of God for you, the purchase price made for you, and the resulting intimacy and purity that you are to live in, with Jesus, for the rest of your days. You were saved for intimacy, purchased, not with silver, but with Jesus’ own blood!
1 Peter 1:18-19 (NIV) For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
Oh, friend, look at the cross and see what Jesus is really doing for you! He is buying you! Like a child who empties out his pockets, using every penny to buy something he desperately wants at the store, Jesus has emptied out His entire life’s blood for you.
His blood is precious, which should tell you what you are to Him! He bought you with precious blood which means you are precious to Him. He paid dearly for you, which says you are dear to Him.
Question 6. What does it do for you just now, to consider that Jesus’ paid for you with precious blood, and therefore you are precious to Him?
