Lesson 51 Warring Against the Flesh: Remaining in Jesus’ Love
Questions 7 and 8
As we abide in Christ, remaining in His love, and as the Holy Spirit produces the fruit of love in us for other people, we experience this wonderful relationship with Jesus. It is so deep and so enjoyable that it changes the lives of all who experience it.
John 15:16-17 NIV You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. (17) This is my command: Love each other.
Question 7. Jesus has chosen every believer. According to John 15:16-17, why did Jesus choose you?
Jesus chose you! He wanted you to be the recipient of all the blessings He purchased at the cross. He decided to love you and to call you friend. He chose you to produce fruit. He wanted you to love others.
This concludes our study on abiding in Christ. I’m hoping you are receiving fresh grace and daily love from Jesus, even as a branch receives fresh nutrients from the vine. It is my prayer that you are learning to remain in Him and His love and that you are sharing that same love with others.
Question 8. How are you doing? Are you gaining victory through the power of the cross changing your heart? Are you still struggling/falling? Please share how you are doing, as your mentor will want to pray for you and offer you counsel from God’s Word.
