Lesson 48 Warring Against the Flesh: Jesus is our Source of Life
Question 7
Jesus is the Vine, the Life-Source for all who believe. Are you going to Him daily to receive new life, fresh energy, daily grace, listening to Him in His Word? Are you purposefully placing yourself in a posture to receive from Him? Are you receiving love and intimacy daily from Him, desiring to follow Him? Remember, that is the believer’s correct posture before the Lord: to receive.
Some people like to play or watch American football, and they know that the wide receiver’s job is to catch the football and run with it. They are to receive the ball, that is what they focus on, that is what they practice to do; it is their primary role.
Similarly, our primary role is to receive from the Lord. We cannot run with perseverance unless we receive from the Lord. It is our primary responsibility. It is our daily responsibility. We must continually place ourselves in the role of being receivers.
Friend, if you leave this course and have not developed the habit of daily coming to the cross and washing, of being daily in the Word seeing the cross/resurrection, of receiving fresh grace and new mercy, you will most likely return to impurity out of emptiness and thirst. I have seen this happen too often, and I don’t want it to be you!
Develop the habit, now, of washing at the cross daily, of abiding in Christ continually, so that you can walk by the Spirit and war against your flesh!
Question 7. Why is it important to be as a “branch” and drink up all the nutrients and nourishment of the cross daily?

Christopher writes, "We must be as a branch and drink up all the nutrients and nourishment of the cross daily, we need to develop the daily habit of coming to the cross. If we don't get our nourishment from the cross daily, we will fill ourselves with things of the world. We will feed ourselves with things of the World."
