Greetings friend, so glad to see you back today!
We’ve been looking at the power of Satan to deceive through temptations, and to inflame our flesh so that we follow him into sin (Ephesians 2:2). He uses pornography extensively in this battle, and he weakens the church through it.
But our victory is found at the cross, where Satan was defeated, his power was broken, he was brought to nothing and one day he will be destroyed in the lake of fire (see Revelation 20).
This truth about Jesus destroying Satan at the cross was stated clearly in the first prophecy ever made about the first coming of Christ:
Genesis 3:14-15 (NKJV) So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
Question 1. According to Genesis 3:15, what would the Seed of the woman do to the seed of the serpent?
This prophecy is about the “seed of the woman,” not the seed of the man. Jesus had no human father but was born of a virgin woman, through the Holy Spirit. And on the cross Jesus’ “heel” was bruised; that is, His flesh was pierced and striped, beaten and bruised. But on the cross, Jesus bruised the head of the serpent.
And believing this is how we experience victory over Satan. Jesus’ victory is your victory! Through His death, Christ destroyed the devil, and now all Satan’s accusations against you are nullified and made invalid. All his statements about you are brought to nothing. Jesus triumphed over him through death and, in so doing, made you more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)!
The reality is that Jesus bruises Satan beneath the feet of everyone who believes, yes of all those who trust Him. He assures you now with these words: “I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you” (Luke 10:19). You have victory now over pornography, over sexual impurity of any type.
Jesus’ death is where He destroyed the enemy, and Jesus’ death is your victory!
Question 2. In our battle against pornography and all sexual impurity, why is it important to know that Satan was defeated when Jesus was wounded in His flesh (crucified on the cross)?

Radomir writes, "It is very important to know if we ever should be freed from our sin that Jesus has won and overcome death and the devil on the cross by His crucifixion. He bruised the devil's head and the devil bruised Jesus' heel (Jesus was crucified) in order that I may, through faith, live a life without fear and habitual sin. If the devil was defeated on the cross and we stay under the cross with faith in our hearts, all power streaming from the cross to our hearts gives us the assurance that we are in Jesus' hands and no devil can touch us. We have made the Most High our dwelling place in our hearts Psa 91:1-11." Mark writes, "It is important for me to know that Jesus was victorious in sacrificing his life for me to take on my sins and raise me from the death of living in sexual sin. I can go on knowing he will protect me from the Wiley ways of Satan and his trickery. Jesus defeated Satan and eventually, Satan will burn forever."
