Lesson 48 Warring Against the Flesh: Jesus is our Source of Life

Questions 1, 2 and 3

Greetings friend, welcome to your course today. I’m so glad you’re here and am eager to get studying with you.
All people have a “thirst”; that is, a yearning or longing, a strong desire for love and intimacy, joy and satisfaction, fullness and completeness. God put this strong desire within us that we might turn to Him and drink in His love, refresh ourselves at the cross, and be satisfied in the gift of His Holy Spirit who is called “rivers of living water” (John 7:38-39).
The problem is that all humans are born in sin, and therefore, we grow up turning to wrong “water sources” to try to satisfy and quench our thirst. We have turned from the Lord and turned to pornography or to other forms of sexual impurity, which are poisonous wells. They are empty and unable to satisfy us.
Jeremiah 2:13 NIV “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”
