On God’s side, victory was won by what Jesus did on the cross. There Jesus took death, Satan’s own weapon, and destroyed the devil and his work.
On our side, we must believe the gospel. We must put faith in the finished work of Christ. And we must continue to believe it, over and over, for “this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith!”
Dear friend, I assume you want to have victory over Satan, the world and your own flesh. And by that I mean you want victory over pornography, over sexual impurity, over lust in all of its forms. How do you get it? Faith! Faith in the cross! Faith in your “David” who defeated your enemy with the enemies’ own weapon.
When we believe that good news it emboldens us! When we see Jesus, that Shepherd from Bethlehem going to the cross and hanging there to defeat Satan, then rising from the dead in power, we want to pursue our enemies and destroy them all!
We want to kill lust and impurity; we want to trample them under our feet so they’ll never rise again. “I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed. I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet” (Psalm 18:37-38 NIV). This is what one view of the cross does for us; it emboldens us as we believe it; it strengthens us! It makes us courageous and bold, daring, and brave! It removes fear!
Question 7. Are you believing that your “David” (Jesus Christ) defeated your “Goliath” (impurity) with the giant’s own weapon (death)? If so, how is that affecting your life?

I believe in the message of the cross that He who is Spirit became flesh so that He can die my death, now I stand in confidence walking by the Spirit and fight the flesh because I now know that just as David destroyed Goliath, Christ crushed the devil."
