The good news for believers is that Jesus Christ did through His death and resurrection what the law was unable to do: that is, He made all believers holy and righteous before God:
“For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering” (Romans 8:3).
Finally, let’s review this section of Scripture like this: In the midst of conquering the promised land, right between battles, the Israelites stopped to worship through sacrifice and to renew the covenant and recommit themselves to the Lord.
“In Joshua 8, God’s people go to battle, and once victory is secured, sacrifices are made to God. In the gospel, this very sensible order is surprisingly reversed. Jesus, our Passover Lamb, has already been sacrificed (1 Cor. 5:7). We now do battle against our real enemies—Satan, hell, and condemnation—in light of the offering that has already been made” (Transformation Study Bible notes on Joshua 8).
In the midst of our battle with the world, the flesh and the devil we, too, should stop and look at the cross, be reminded of the great sacrifice Jesus made for us, and worship. In the midst of our battles, we should recall that Jesus loved us unto death, that He reconciled us to God and purchased our fellowship with God. And we should worship and rededicate our lives to the Lord.
Question 3. Maybe God has shown you the cross, what Jesus did in substituting Himself for you and dying in your place. If so, do you see the importance of rededicating your life to Him? You may write out a prayer of rededication or share your thoughts here.

Carol writes, "I really do see the need to redirect me life to God. And with the this study and others I find a change happening in me. It is something that is convicting me daily in all I do..I have stopped watching shows that may not reflect the morals God wants for us all....I am working on my prayer life right now. Learning to talk to God and taking my worries and praise to Him..and I am learning to attribute all that is good in my life to Him and not to me."
Amanda writes, "Many times when going through a battle, I cry out to the Lord for help. When that help comes I am grateful. Unfortunately, many times, I forget to thank the Lord for coming through for me. I'm afraid in many instance I treat the Lord like a spare tire. He deserves so much more than that! Lord, thank you for always coming through for me. Even in the hard times when I think things should go a certain way, but they don't, You know what is best. I praise Your Name. In Jesus name, Amen."
Kelly writes, ""In the midst of our battle with the world, the flesh and the devil we, too, should stop and look at the cross, be reminded of the great sacrifice Jesus made for us, and worship."
This statement made in the lesson really grabbed my heart. There is indeed battles in my life right now as I imagine it is for every one. Old battles that has to be re-fought at times and new battles rising up. It can be so easy to just focus on the battle, the struggle and forget that the war has already been won. But when I stop right in the middle of the warfare and just worshp God, looking back at the Cross of Jesus reminding my heart that though I'm figthing right now, guaranteed victory is just over the horizon, I find myself able to rest, while fighting, in freedom from sin that I recieved at the Cross, the freedom I am at present attaining from the Cross and my Freedom made complete as I keep looking back at the Cross."
