Victory over every spiritual enemy in your life, just like salvation itself, comes to you as a precious gift from the Father; it is by grace, and it is because of His love. In other words, it is not by your own efforts or through your own works, it is a gift of God. “Look, I have given you Jericho.” Therefore may we never boast, except in the cross.
This chapter ends with Israel being instructed to simply walk around Jericho numerous times for numerous days, and on the final day they shouted and blew the trumpet, and the walls of Jericho fell down. All in Jericho were destroyed completely, except Rahab and her family who were saved by God’s grace. “Look, I have given you Jericho.”
The reality is that every one of the battles that God’s people face in the promised land is simply the “seed of the serpent” and the “seed of the woman” squaring off and doing battle (Genesis 3:15). This “enmity” between Satan and Jesus comes to its final conclusion at the cross of Christ where Jesus crushed Satan’s head while receiving a wound to His heel (His flesh). See the cross of Jesus looming large over all your battles, declaring victory before you even began to fight.
Friend, victory over all spiritual enemies is all by grace, and flows from the cross. The more time you spend at the cross watching and listening, the more the Holy Spirit will work in your heart and the more victory you will have. Jerichos will fall, no matter how fortified, walled up and gated they had been previously. They simply do not stand a chance against the all-powerful, all-consuming love of Jesus at the cross, nor the power of His resurrection from the dead.
Question 4. Do you see that Jesus has purchased your victory at the cross before you even began to fight? What are your thoughts about that?

Amanda writes, "I see Jesus on that cross with His arms spread open wide, bidding me to come and be secure in His sacrifice. He says the victory is won, all you have to do is come to me. I see and empty tomb, because Jesus fought the greatest war and won and He is on my side. Lord, help me to claim your victory. Build my faith in Your victory."
Karen writes, "Yes, I see that the victory was won! I think sometimes it is too hard to believe that one person could take on all of my sin, let alone everyone's sin! It is too wonderful to imagine. It is incredible that all I have to do is rest in Jesus, His death and resurrection, and to claim His victory as I seek and surrender to Him! How glorious!"
Raph writes, "The Father’s loving kindness saw the price I had to pay and the heavy battle against the “ancient snake”. He payed that price for me! Hanging on the wood in flesh through His God Son, shedding His holy blood which would be an everlasting redemption for those who believe and a scarlet victory flag as a sign of the flawless victory over satan and death.
I should remember the promise of this victory in my day-to-day battles."
