Lesson 21 Warring Against our Flesh, Praying God’s Word

Question 4

Oh, friend, this is how to wrestle with God: take His Word, latch on to it, and pray it back to Him. In this way, we are saying, "Jesus, you said that if I remain in You and Your words remain in me that I could ask whatever I want and you would do it for me. I am asking for freedom from gluttony, for your glory and my good."
The exciting thing is that we have a multitude of Scriptures to pray back to God. We can latch onto any verse, passage, even a chapter a day, and wrestle with God in it, pinning Him (as it were) to His Word. For God honors His Word and His name (Psalm 138:2). As you begin praying in a believing way, trusting that God will honor His Word, in His own time, you will experience God's answers.
This praying God's Word becomes thoroughly addicting, and I have found that I cannot wait to get up in the morning to meet with God. I know I am going to hear from Him in His Word, and I am going to pray that Word back to Him, knowing He hears His Word and answers all prayers that are according to His Word.
Do you see how this has the power to set you free? That God will work through His Word in this way? If so, begin today by selecting a passage of Scripture to pray back to God. I look forward to hearing how God answers your prayers.
