Lesson 28 Walking by the Spirit Review

Testimony and Question 7

Kate writes:
"I found the Weight Loss Bootcamp immensely helpful. As I learn to follow the biblical principles, not in a legalistic, religious manner but in the living way of the Spirit, I'm finding myself drawn closer to the Lord, hungering and thirsting more after Him than after food. I am learning to listen for His daily battle plan for me. I'm also warring against the laziness of my flesh; I have begun to exercise for the first time in more years than I care to recall. That, too, is a joy as I draw near to Him while I exercise. I have faith that as I continue to live out these principles in my life by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the transformation that is taking place in my life will be lasting - He WILL complete that which He has begun in me. I have spent a lot of time washing at the cross, seeking God's heart and will, praying His Word back to Him, running TO Him in repentance instead of away from Him when I do stumble. I see that He wants me to be transformed and walking consistently by the Spirit even more than I do, and His love and grace are amazing. I'm still learning to hear Him for my battle plan and tweaking things, but He is patient. Regarding warring against the flesh, I want closeness with the Lord more than anything, so I'm learning to subjugate my flesh by the Spirit's power. When I want to eat, I ask myself, "Is this food in my battle plan?" If the answer is no, I ask, "What's happening in my life right now that's making my flesh want to run to food? Am I bored? Stressed? In need of comfort?" Whatever the answer is to that question, the solution is to go to the cross and seek the Lord afresh. Feeding on the Bread of Life is so much better than stuffing my stomach! Physically, I feel less bloated and healthier, and that I have more energy. As I am in my early fifties, I had begun to feel concerned about some of the aches and pains my body was starting to manifest. I have lived for years with a constant feeling of guilt that I wasn't exercising and wasn't treating my body - the temple of the Holy Spirit - as I should. God is leading me gently in the realm of exercise, but the guilt is gone, and I'm excited about the future! I recommend this course. It is solidly based on Scripture and the Lord Himself. I encourage anyone who is starting this course to take their time: take time to meditate on the Scriptures, to absorb what Mike says in his videos, to yield to the Holy Spirit's leading, to practice what is taught in the lessons, and to spend much time at the cross."
