Lesson 14: Warring Against the Flesh: Casting Down Imaginations

Questions 1 and 2

Greetings and welcome back!
The way that the enemy works with our flesh to get us to sin is by setting up thought strongholds in our minds. These strong thoughts and imaginations can become so vivid and intense that we feel as though we must act on them.
Today, we want to see how we can, through the gospel, master our imaginations and demolish thought-strongholds to war against the flesh.
I remember having thought strongholds so intense they could plague me for years. My imagination was so vivid with thoughts of food that my mind was like a movie theater of menu items. Possibly you’ve experienced these types of imaginations.

Question 1. What has been your experience of thought strongholds up to this point?

We need to understand that our imaginations are primarily a byproduct of what we feed our minds:
"He feeds on ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not a lie in my right hand?” Isaiah 44:20

Question 2. In Isaiah 44:20, what effect does “feeding on ashes” have?
