Chris captures the concepts in the above video when she writes:
"Our sure hope in the cross of Jesus who alone is righteous died for me/us who are unrighteousness to take our just punishment and rose from the dead so we can be made right with God, have peace with Him. What a glorious message to be ready to share with others, our fellow unrighteous neighbors, all people."
Are you appreciating how our freedom from laziness and gluttony comes by the death and resurrection of Jesus? Do you see the importance of our identity as having died and risen with Jesus? If we want true freedom, it is not in looking at diets or weight loss programs but by looking at the cross of Christ. It is a whole new way of thinking and living - not worldly but spiritual.
Today, let’s see what breaks the power of sin in our lives and sets us free. Throughout this course, we are looking at Romans chapter 6, and we will continue now where we’ve left off in previous lessons:
“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin — 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Romans 6:5-7 (NIV)
Question 2. According to Romans 6:5 NIV, what hope is there for us?
Question 3. According to Romans 6:6 NIV, what are the results of our old self being crucified with Jesus?
