Lesson 29: Dying to Self and Serving Others

Question 7

Many have found ministering with Setting Captives Free to be very enjoyable. We are passionate about seeing God work in people’s hearts, lives, and families, watching Him set captives free.
We have prepared a mentorship course to teach you how to mentor others with Setting Captives Free. It is 13 lessons long, and during the course, you will interact with a mentor to learn how to bring cleansing to others.
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. (16) But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life” (1 Timothy 1:15-16 NIV).
Paul received mercy so that he might be an example to other sinners that God has mercy for even them, and that they too can believe in Jesus and receive eternal life, no matter what they have done.
When God restored him after his fall into sin, King David understood that he would be ready to teach others: “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways so that sinners will turn back to you” (Psalm 51:12-13 NIV). This is the joy we get to see as we teach others the gospel: “many turn back to the Lord.”
Remember, in commissioning His disciples to minister to others, Jesus said, “you will be blessed if you do it.” Blessing is Jesus’ promise to those willing to step out in faith and make themselves available to be used by God. This blessing of God is what keeps gospel ministers always pressing forward, ever reaching out to people with a hand of love and forgiveness and acceptance, always looking to help others and give them grace.

We've appreciated Sue's answers all the way through the course, and she gives one more excellent answer here:
"When others ask me about my weight loss I can tell them amount this class. (I already have been) And I can explained how the freedom comes from realizing that we died with Christ , and we are resurrected with him into a new life. The old man is dead. I am a new creature, full of resurrection power."
