Greetings, friend, welcome back!
To find freedom from overeating, we must wash at the cross daily. We must come to the cross and look up, and see all that Jesus is doing, see what He is accomplishing, and live in the light of it.
Today let’s see very clearly that the cross frees us from sin and death, and let’s wash at the cross:
“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil — 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason, he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted” (Hebrews 2:14-18 NIV).
Question 2. According to Hebrews 2:14 NIV, what did the death of Jesus Christ accomplish for you?

This passage from Hebrews 2 tells us that Jesus became a human so that He could live perfectly for us and die sacrificially in our place so that by His death He would break the power of Satan, who holds the power of death.
Destroying Satan, his power, and his work, is the reason that Jesus came to this earth. “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8 NIV).
This destruction of Satan was the first prophecy ever recorded: Speaking to the devil, God said, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel” (Genesis 3:15 NIV). Yes, Jesus came to “crush the head” of the serpent, the devil.
So, the first thing we are called to see, when we come and look up at the cross, is that Jesus is destroying Satan. While it looks like Jesus is being destroyed, and Satan is winning, just the opposite is occurring. At the cross, Jesus is destroying Satan. As Jesus suffers and breathes His last breath, your fiercest enemy has been dealt a death blow!
And what is the result of Jesus defeating Satan in this way?
“and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:15 NIV).

Wende expresses the truth well in her answer to the above question:
"When Jesus died on the cross, I was set free! The chains fell away, the prison door was unlocked and opened wide for me. I was free to go! He made it possible! Now my focus is to remember that I am free and living that out each day."
