Hello, and welcome. I pray that you are finding this study beneficial and worth the time and effort you have invested.
For the past two lessons, we have been discussing physical intimacy in a gospel-centered marriage. We saw that physical intimacy is an illustration of the spiritual union between Christ and the church. We’ve discussed the significance of enjoying sexual relations with our spouse because it brings God glory when we delight in the gift He has given us. And now we will finish up our study of physical intimacy with a lesson on the benefits of drawing our spouse to us.
From the beginning, the devil has done his best to seduce God’s people into sin. For everything beautiful that God has given to us for our good and our enjoyment, the devil has offered a counterfeit and destructive version. This is especially true in the area of sex where Satan offers pornography and sexual immorality to lure people away from the spouse God has given. But the devil does this in every area of life, and all of us are susceptible to his seductions.
Question 1. Has the devil ever seduced you with anything? What happened? Please share.

Over the years, the devil has seduced me with many cunning lies. Just as he promised Eve that she would be like God if she ate of the forbidden fruit, so Satan told me that if I just asserted myself and demanded better treatment, then I would be happy. And just like Eve, I was deceived (2 Corinthians 11:3) so I put my foot down in anger and gave ultimatums; but instead of better treatment, I gained alienation. My aggressive behavior only pushed my husband away from me; it did not achieve the righteous life that God desires for my husband or me. “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” James 1:19-20
Thankfully, God showed me the error of my ways and brought me to repentance. Now I am quite content to leave the disciplinary actions to God (Romans 12:19).
Regarding sexual fulfillment, the devil promises our spouses that they will get more enjoyment and satisfaction away from us. Look with me at Proverbs 7:10-22 to see how the seduction unfolds.
“And behold, the woman meets him, dressed as a prostitute, wily of heart...now in the street, now in the market, and at every corner she lies in wait. She seizes him and kisses him…so now I have come out to meet you, to seek you eagerly, and I have found you. I have spread my couch with coverings, colored linens from Egyptian linen; I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love…With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. All at once he follows her…”
