Lesson 17: God’s Power Accomplishes Three Amazing Things - An Inheritance Part 3

Questions 4 and 5

All believers have a priceless inheritance. This inheritance tells us about the value of the death of Jesus Christ: it was priceless, for that is the price paid for our inheritance.
Think about it, friend. Out of a heart of love, Jesus Christ went to a cruel cross, a criminal’s cross. He went there to die to secure an inheritance for you because He loves you. The inheritance you have is priceless, and it was bought for you with the precious blood of Jesus, a Lamb without spot or blemish (1 Peter 1:19).
So the reality is that you are priceless to God. You are priceless to Jesus. You are priceless to the Holy Spirit. Your inheritance is priceless, and so are you!

8. God has given us the inheritance of the reward.
Colossians 3:23-24 NLT  Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. (24)  Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
Sometimes people who serve the Lord can become very discouraged and depressed. They see all the work they are doing, and maybe nobody notices, nobody thanks them, and they feel as though they are forgotten people in this world.
Well, this passage tells us that God has a reward for us. He gives us an inheritance as our reward. Our inheritance is the whole earth, as “the meek will inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5), and it is all of heaven, for Jesus said He was going away to prepare a place for us there (John 14:2-3). What a reward!

9. God has given us an eternal inheritance.
Hebrews 9:15-17 NLT  That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant. (16)  Now, when someone leaves a will, it is necessary to prove that the person who made it is dead. (17)  The will goes into effect only after the person’s death. While the person who made it is still alive, the will cannot be put into effect.

One of our mentors at Setting Captives Free, Erick, writes, "Have you thought of a will not actually going into effect until death? That is what happened for us. Upon Jesus' death the "will" went into effect, for you and I. It only can go into effect when ones dies. Oh how amazing was His death! He went there to give us our inheritance. Usually we wait for loved ones to die of natural causes to receive a worldly inheritance. But Jesus ran towards the cross to die so He could "will" to us our eternal inheritance. What a Savior! What grace and love He so willing poured out on us. A will that could only go into effect upon death."
