Day 3: Belittling Fears Banished at the Cross
Questions 1 and 2
As adopted children of God, He invites us back to this divine workplace to drink from this ongoing overflow of living water. From each cowardly sin, there now runs a stream of blood down the stained wood into our new hearts made white as snow. We worship Him in awe and delight and receive repeated washing of our condemning consciences, lifting us out of the pit of fearfulness. When we are led by the Holy Spirit to return again and again to see this supernatural sight of the cross, we experience a drenching of new life and spiritual nourishment flowing into us. At the cross, we receive Spirit-powered thoughts and actions to make godly decisions rather than flesh-driven ones.Friends, at the tomb of His apparent shame and humiliation, Jesus walked out without our sin as the triumphant Victor over death. He led us out as new creations into the wonderful light of resurrection leaving the grave clothes of our old lives in Egypt behind. We now can delight in the newness of walking by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit into the fruitfulness and abundance in Christ.“Yes, be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 TLB
Applying the Gospel
Outcomes are entirely different when they come from a heart of faith looking to things unseen and eternal rather than to the temporary frightening events of what is seen (2 Corinthians 4:18). As adrenaline pumps through our bodies amid our struggles, our minds race in different directions seemingly out of control. But at the cross Jesus offers us the remedy of His calming peace as we wait and watch with Him, standing in His blood-bought promises, grabbing ahold of them by faith:“You will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Jesus” Philippians 4:7 TLB“The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way? Proverbs 20:24"He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters” Psalm 23:2“He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord” Isaiah 26:3 TLB
