His blood is an endless sea of forgiveness and life for us. We have received redemption through His blood and the forgiveness of sins! As a result of this sin offering, we now measure up to the Law's high standards, receiving blessings instead of curses for sin (Ephesians 1:7; Galatians 3:13-14). The blood of Jesus sealed the New Covenant for us (Matthew 26:28) forever. The gates of hell are closed, the doors of heaven are open, and we now sing out, "We are justified, we are reconciled. God has made us who were wretches into His treasures!" Jesus became sin so that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). We are now indwelt by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16), with a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26), and clothed in a beautiful stain-free garment of perfect right standing before the Father (Colossians 1:22).
It is a garment of righteousness with a clothes tag that reads: “It is My good pleasure that this garment forever belongs to My child named ____ given at the cross by the Son and accepted with love by the Father.
We are infinitely wealthy because we have received peace with God through justification at the cross (Romans 5:1), freedom from condemnation (Romans 8:1), and been raised to new life (Romans 5:18). God rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves (Colossians 1:13).
We now receive the peace of God through the cross! We are set free from worry in our hearts in sanctification as we learn to walk with Jesus, trusting in God’s provision, and have our eyes fixed in awe by Jesus’ finished work at Calvary (Hebrews 12:1-2).
“For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].” John 1:16 AMP
“And do not set your heart on [...];” Luke 12:29 NIV
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2 NIV
Do you have an earthly need that is weighing you down presently and causing a lack of inner rest in your heart? Are you setting your heart on it so much that it is the major focus of your thoughts and conversations with others each day, causing a lack of sleep and distress?
Would you turn away and set your mind on things above, turning to look at Christ going to the cross for you personally?
Suffering and impoverished, Jesus is holding out His nail-scarred hands in love to you.
See Him loaded up with your worries and sins, removing them from you as He goes to His death. Take in the scene of the soldier taking aim at Jesus at the cross:
“But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.” John 19:34
Wonder at the fountain of grace that opened up from Jesus’ side for daily washing of our sin and endless provision of peace, forgiveness and strength. This fountain flows with ever-fresh and living water:
“On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness." Zechariah 13:1
Cry out with Simon Peter who said to His Lord: “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but wash my hands and my head, too!” (John 13:8 NCV).
Take delight in immersing yourself in the rich treasures of God’s kingdom at the cross that are yours as His precious child in Christ (Luke 12:32).
