Day 22: Anxiety Scatters in the Love Found at Calvary

Questions 1 and 2

By Jesus’ death we recognize our sin debt has been paid. By His resurrection we know the payment by His body was accepted and divine justice was met. God is satisfied with His Son’s death in place of our own death. Jesus is now sitting at God’s right hand, His work completed, pleading for us through His all-sufficient and powerful blood. Jesus’ blood shows us His love, shows us the proof of our salvation and eternal security and our changeless right standing in the eyes of God. Fear flees in this vision of such reassurance and glory!
“Then he placed his right hand on me and said: Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.” Revelation 1:17
“Christ’s love is greater than anyone can ever know, but I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:19 NCV
Applying the Gospel
How can we overcome the lies and accusations that threaten to pour incendiary petrol on the flames of our anxiety? When we see and hear and identify with the words of the gospel, looking up to the scene of Calvary in 3-D, we experience the reality of Jesus bringing us the truth of every one of God’s promises. We answer the false charges of Satan through the blood of Jesus, according to the reality of who we are in Christ Jesus now, not based on our feelings or moods which are fleshly and changeable:
When we feel unloved
We know we have been loved because of Jesus’ substitutionary atonement at Calvary and now “overwhelming victory … is ours through Christ, who loved us” (Romans 8:37 NLT). It is done and it is settled!
“For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.” John 3:16 TPT
When we feel persecuted by circumstances
The King of Kings is for us and not against us. He sent Jesus to take our place at the center of all persecution at the cross and then He became our eternal mediator standing resolutely and placing His blood over every situation we are faced with.
“I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NCV
When we feel alone
While we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for us when we were ungodly (Romans 5:6), our pardon was obtained, and our adoption papers irrevocably sealed as His child, never to be reversed. There is no brokenness which Jesus cannot bind up by His wounds (Isaiah 53:5). We can never perish or be plucked out of His hands (John 10:28) as we are bound in unity with ties of His boundless love (Colossians 3:14).
“I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. To them I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them.” Hosea 11:4 NIV
