Lesson 6 - Kindness

Question 6

Let's connect the "Gospel dots" here in this historical narrative:

Remember, Mephibosheth was "lame" - that word for "lame" is the same word that is used in Exodus 12 when the Lord will "pass over you" when the blood was applied to the doorpost during that first Passover.
The Lord "passed over" Mephibosheth (keeping him alive) that he might later be blessed by a covenant made between David and Jonathon.
"In that day," says the LORD, "I will assemble the lame, I will gather the outcast And those whom I have afflicted; (7) I will make the lame a remnant, And the outcast a strong nation; So the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion From now on, even forever.” (Micah 4:6-7 NKJV)
God the Father made a covenant with God the Son to "pass over" the lame and gather them together as a remnant. Mephibosheth called himself a "dead dog." So, we are dead in our sins and trespasses. But the kindness of the Lord brought us to the table to feast with the King. There at the Cross, we find the Lord's kindness bringing us to Himself. (John 12:32)
The Lord restored all of Saul's land and property and assigned Ziba to care for him. The Lord has given us all the riches in glory (Philippians 4:19) and blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3) Like Ziba, to watch over Mephibosheth's well-being, we have been given the Holy Spirit to watch over us.
