Lesson 7 – Goodness

Question 3

Consider another use of the word good (agathos).
"But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good (agathos) part, which will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:42 NKJV)
Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, drinking in all that Jesus was saying. Her focus was riveted on Jesus – she was not busy in the kitchen like Martha worried about fixing lunch. Mary had her priorities right. I like to think – what if both Mary and Martha were sitting at Jesus’ feet? I think Jesus would have leaned over to the ladies and say, “Why don’t we go into the kitchen and get lunch ready for the guys. We can continue our discussion.” When we choose the good, the Lord will take care of those things that are important.

3. What are you doing to “choose the good” when coming to the Cross?
