Lesson 7 – Goodness

Question 12

We have only one hope – come back to the Cross and find that you have been purchased, you have been washed, the blood of the Lamb has redeemed you. Don’t leave the Cross and find yourself worshipping some false god of pleasure, some false god of self-advancement, some false god of self-pride, self-accomplishments, self-whatever. As you come to the Cross – stay there and learn to sit at Jesus’ feet and abide in Him. Make Jesus your first thought at the beginning of the day and your last thoughts as you go to bed – and everywhere in between. We call this walking is the Spirt.
The context of the fruit of the Spirit is a crucified life:
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (21) "I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain." (Galatians 2:20-21 NKJV)
“And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (25) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (26) Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5:24-26 NKJV)

12. Are you learning to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires? Or are you still in bondage in practicing the works of the flesh?

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, (20) idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, (21) envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV)
Jesus went to the Cross out of His goodness to purchase and redeem you. You don’t need to be enslaved to selfish sins and desires. You are not under Law – There is no law against the fruit of the Spirit. Come to the Cross to be purchased from your slavery to sin. It has already been paid for in full. Come and be washed. Come to the Cross and learn how to walk in the Spirit. You will see this fruit in your lives as you walk in the Spirit. As you come to the Cross, washed clean by the blood, walking in the Spirit – you will be equipped to war against your flesh and find real victory by the power of the Gospel working in and through your life.
