Lesson 7 – Goodness
Question 11
Application from the Cross
“when He (Jesus) comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. (11) Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, (12) that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 1:10-12 NKJV)
I know the Pastor; the elders and others have been praying for you all that “God would count you worthy of this calling and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and work of faith with power in your lives.”
When we come to the Cross – we see Jesus’ goodness, the uprightness of heart and life, goodness, kindness - a kindly activity toward the (the sinner’s) behalf. Jesus has shown this goodness toward us sinners. There at the Cross, we see His love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control being directed toward us.
11. Do you find yourself on the slave block of sin? Are there those besetting sins that so easily ensnare you? Yes, even as a Christian, we can become in bondage to sin. Like Gomer, even after being married to Hosea, she could not leave her prostitution and found herself as a slave.
