Lesson 2 - Love

Question 1

Let's define this word Love

ἀγάπη agape: affection, goodwill, love, benevolence, brotherly love
I found "Agape and agapao is used in the NT in at least five different ways:

To describe the attitude and love of God the Father toward God the Son, Jesus.

"And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:17 NKJV)
At Jesus' baptism, The Father speaks from heaven – this is my beloved.
"While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" (Matthew 17:5 NKJV)
There on the Mount Transfiguration, The Father speaks from heaven –
How much do these reflect the Old Testament prophecy?
"Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles." (Isaiah 42:1 NKJV)
How is this justice brought forth? Jesus went to the Cross and laid down His life. The Father's love for a Son who delights His soul because He did that which was right.
Jesus reminded the disciples how He loved them by comparison:
"As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love." (John 15:9 NKJV)
Even in Jesus' High Priestly pray in John 17, He reflects on the Father's love:
"I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. ... (26) "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:23, 26 NKJV)
